February Newsletter

After a huge turn out for our Australia Day party where we raised over £1,000 for the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne we look ahead to February footy. A massive thanks to everyone who managed to get tickets and won prizes in the raffle, it was a cracking day! With the mud just about washed out of the hair from our January taster session we turn our attention to the resumption of regular training along with pre-season cup. 🗓️ What's On?

  • 4th February (Saturday): Feb Taster Session @ Peckham Rye (Kick Off 12:30pm) followed by Six Nations Rugby @ the Pyro

  • 9th February (Thursday): Thursday Evening Training Commences @ Sacred Heart Catholic School Southwark (Kick Off 7:30pm; arrive 7:15pm)

  • 11th February (Saturday): Saturday Training Commences (Kick Off 12:30pm each Saturday until end March)

  • 18th February (Saturday): Registration with personalised training tops closes

  • 3rd-5th March (Weekend): Pre-season Cup @ Cardiff

  • 18th March (Saturday): Great Britain Swans & Bulldogs vs London All Stars @ Peckham Rye

  • 1st April (Saturday): Season Launch Party

👅 Taster Sessions: Hopefully less muddy, our 4th February session is an opportunity to invite new players down for a kick, introduction to the game and to earn a beer at the Pyro for the Six Nations: Wales vs Ireland and England vs Scotland are some juicy fixtures so bring your rugby mates along! 🏈 Training: We will start Thursday evening training on the 9th February at Sacred Heart Catholic School in Southwark under lights. The focus of the Thursday sessions will be around fitness and hand-ball/short passing skills. Arrive at 7:15pm for a sharp 7:30pm start. Regular Saturday sessions at Peckham Rye will commence from 11th February following our Feb Taster session. We strongly encourage you to get along to both of these sessions to build fitness and skills during pre-season - they are a lot of fun and followed by beverages: win, win! 📝 Registration for 2023 Season is OPEN: With no increase in fees from last season, existing members can choose if they want this year’s training top or not (you definitely do, the design is 🔥). For our NEW Giants (first season) your registration includes a personalised training top (your first bit of Giants merch!) plus your playing socks (playing tops and shorts are supplied by the club). This year we’re also offering a Supporter Membership for all those friends, partners or past players who want to support the club. Membership includes a Giants bucket hat as well as a stubby holder. In order to secure a personalised training top you need to complete the form and pay by Saturday 18th February. Registrations after this date will not be eligible for personalisation.

Registration form can be accessed here. 🎽 Club Merchandise: We have new merch for sale! We've partnered with Rival Kit to make us the best dressed club in London with everything from fleeces to beanies to bucket hats and more. We will be releasing more items through the season so watch this space! Get your gear here.

🏆 Pre-Season Cup: We announced in January that we will be competing in the Dragon Cup hosted by the Cardiff Panthers in Cardiff, Wales. More details will be shared via the WhatsApp group so if you are thinking about coming along and haven't already, join the group. New players are definitely encouraged to come along as it is a fantastic way to learn the game and get involved before the season.

🦢 GB Swans & Bulldogs: We are locked and loaded for the GB games in March - we will be looking for 4 players from the women's and men's teams to play in the All-Stars teams as well as volunteers, cheer-leaders and beer drinkers on the day so watch out for more info. 🥳 Season Launch Party: More on this soon but don't be an April Fool and miss out, lock in the date: 1st April!
