The Giants men headed up to north London for a do or die clash in the elimination final against last years premiers Sussex.
The first quarter saw us running down the hill with a little breeze. The boys started off a little nervous with the backs holding up well with Mike and Pat leading from the back. Half way through the quarter we started to get our game going and started peppering the goals and Kempy looking dangerous up forward but were unable to convert our chances. It took Joe who was running all day with a steady set shot to put our first goal on the board. Giants went into quarter time leading 11-0.
Second quarter started strongly up the hill. With a goal to Geoff early from a set shot and then Tommy Emery the goal sneak latching onto a second goal in 2 weeks. The rest of the quarter was a tight tussle with the backs holding up well with Rizza and Stinga rebounding off the backline strongly Giants went into half time leading 24-6.
Not sure if there was sometime in the water at half time but the Giants really kicked into gear in the third quarter. Gus strong out of the middle. Stu with some dashing runs off the wing setting up a Geoff mark and goal and he also went on to kick another 2 for the quarter. Boomer was strong all day up forward always providing a target and managed to put through a goal from a stoppage with a classy roving snap on the left. The quarter ended up 52-6.
The last quarter was an arm wrestle against the wind. Sussex was able to lock the ball in their forward half for the majority of the quarter. Pitbull and the backline were solid not letting any easy scores through. Final score 54-18 with a hard fought win against a tough opponent in Sussex .
