Preliminary Finals: Giants Women's vs West London Wildcats

Updated: Aug 4, 2023

It was a tense atmosphere ahead of the women’s preliminary final, as the squad was tasked with becoming the first Giants’ outfit to make a Grand Final since 2014 - with the West London Wildcats in their way.

As the lads were reeling from a hard-fought loss, all of South East London’s hopes rested on the women…fortunately, as they’ve done time and time again, they delivered.

Not to be denied, the Giants put in a terrific four quarter performance to book their ticket to the big dance with gusto.

As always, club veterans like Ginge and Suse led from the front, but special mention must go to a couple of players who remain in the infancy of their local footy careers.

Emmy, Chloe and Dani each played in a way that exemplified exactly where a year’s hard work will get you. The trio delivered stellar performances across all areas of the park, leaving the Wildcats chanceless.

With the four goal win comes a ticket to the the promised land - a Grand Final berth…and deservedly so. After a brilliant year, the women have a chance to end it on a perfect note and deliver some silverware to this great club. Catch them in action against the unbeaten-in-conference London Swans on Saturday morning at Motspur park. UTFG
